HHS Dropping the HIPAA Hammer

 The Department of Health and Human Services is dropping the hammer on organizations that violate HIPAA rules (see HHS statement). Under the new rules, violations can result in more costly fines, and organizations won’t be able to simply hide behind the “I didn’t know” defense.
